Most of my dashboard is Mass Effect and I am really annoyed I thought we were done with this
You can never have too much Mass Effect.
agree to disagree, I suppose. Mass Effect is and will always be a gaming masterpiece whether it did or did not match your expectations.
It’s literally one of the worst-written narratives I’ve ever experienced in my life, it begins losing all genre focus and coherence in the beginning of Mass Effect 2 (and the trend continues throughout and only continually gets worse), and it closes off doors and streamlines itself with each installment of the series
Enjoy the game all you want but don’t call it a “gaming masterpiece” because that’s not what it is
My “expectations” were literally just “have a slightly decent plot,” “have consistent themes and characters,” “be written sort of enjoyably,” and “have a basic understanding of RPG elements and player choice.” My expectations were literally a combination of what you expect when picking up a game and what the team developing it promised and it didn’t deliver in almost any aspect other than “it was set in space” and “you kind of got to create your character, I guess” (although outside of appearance, that’s debatable)
you’re obviously still upset about the direction the whole franchise took story wise after the first game and I can’t blame you, it could have gone better but I still really enjoyed the whole trilogy and a lot of other fans agree with me.
what can I tell you? you’re entitled to your opinions and your own taste in games and I respect that, just don’t try to make your opinion pass as facts. :)
after all you don’t get to criticize a product you did not make, you can only like it or not like it.
the way I see it is that the whole game universe it’s a masterpiece of references and a whole homage to the entire sci-fi background that goes from alien to terminator, to star trek, star wars and even some classic books from asimov.
you may think that “it fails to deliver” is a fact for you. I say it failed to deliver what you expected, in the ways you expected, and that can be fact enough to have you disappointed.
but there is just much more than that.
Mass Effect 3 / Citadel DLC / Silversun Strip
I just realised I gained 13 followers this week!
I don’t know what is it you liked in my blog (and please feel free to let me know :) ) but still thank you guys, you’re the best.
here, have a mass effect themed song I made a while ago.
Shepard - "Nothing in our fight against the Reapers has been that cut-and-dried."
Javik - "Because you still have hope this war will end with your honor intact."
Shepard - "I do."
Javik - “Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls, and ask the ghosts if honor matters.”
Shepard - "…"
Javik - "This silence is your answer."

Load it, check it, quick - rewrite it,
Plug it, play it, burn it, rip it,
Drag and drop it, zip - unzip it,
Lock it, fill it, call it, find it,
View it, code it, jam - unlock it,

Cross it, crack it, switch - update it,
Name it, rate it, tune it, print it,
Scan it, send it, fax - rename it,
Touch it, chicken, Pay it, watch it,
Turn it, leave it, start - format it.
Why doesn’t anybody mention the fact that Mass Effect 3 is one of the only games in the last few years with a soundtrack worth remembering?
Mass Effect 4 looks amazing.
